Polish researchers published an article about the therapeutic potential of curcumin in glaucoma. Curcumin exhibits a wide range of pharmacological properties including, antioxidant, anti-inflammation, anti-mutagenic, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities. The article mentions that curcumin can inhibit pathological conditions and restore homeostasis in glaucoma. Therefore, it can be used as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of glaucoma. However, the oral administration of curcumin is limited by its low bioavailability. Thus, nanoliposomal curcumin is preferable to improve its bioavailability and stability.
