Quercetin: a new remedy for liver cancer?

Taiwanese researchers published a study about the potential of quercetin to prevent and inhibit oxidative stress-induced liver cancer. The study mentions that reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced oxidative stress has been considered a key player in the development and progression of various liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Quercetin is a natural antioxidant that protects the human body against oxidative stress and also has an anti-proliferation effect on hepatocellular carcinoma. However, oral quercetin seems not to be an effective way due to its low bioavailability.
